European Touring Car Championship 2004

The 2004 European Touring Car Championship was the de facto world championship, and where Andy climbed into the top echelon of world motorsport.

With a single car BMW Team Great Britain entry prepared by Belgian Bart Mampaey at RBM, he took on the might of the full BMW and Alfa works outfits. And won.

True to Andy's winner-takes-all style, it came down to high stakes poker at the Dubai finale. Watch the season in pictures as it unfolded round by round:

  • 1: Monza, Italy
  • 2: Valencia, Spain
  • 3: Magny Cours, France
  • 4: Hockenheim, Germany
  • 5: Brno, Czech Republic
  • 6: Donington, UK
  • 7: Spa, Belgium
  • 8: Imola, Italy
  • 9: Oschersleben, Germany
  • 10: Dubai, United Arab Emirites

Each round comprised 2 races. The grid for race 1 was decided by Saturday qualifying, and the grid for race 2 by the finish order in race 1 but with places 1-8 reversed. Drivers accumulated success ballast of up to 40kg based on their position in the ETCC table.
