Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation
Andy and his wife Jo are involved in a range of charity work, which they see as important to being part of their local community.
A major part of their activities is fundraising for their Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation. With support from sponsors and corporate brands, they have been able to raise some £70,000 for the charity since it was established.
The motivation for this is personal experience: Both of their children were born significantly premature and weighed under 4lbs. The support they received was amazing, but they could see that the time and effort that goes into the care of premature babies could be greatly assisted by improved local facilities.
An example of their work was the donation of £15,000 to the Guernsey Premature Baby Unit in April 2006 for a new monitor to enable the unit to accommodate more young babies at the hospital. This avoids little babies and their families having to be transferred to mainland Britain.
In October 2009 a portable, non-invasive Jaundice Meter was also purchased for the unit meaning a less painful and easier check for small babies. (all pictures reproduced courtesy The Guernsey Press Co Ltd).

“We’re so pleased we have been able to help raise much needed funding for the Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation and we wish to thank every one who has sponsored us. The charity provides much needed support to numerous local families each year and we hope that our contribution will help many more families in the future.”

Scalextric are Tops
The Model Shop, have recently donated proceeds from the sale of Andy's replica Scalextric racing cars to the Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation. John Cocks, owner of the shop, and his son Steve handed over £1,000 to Jo and Andy in early November 2009.

This donation went straight to the parents of Louis Allen who was diagnosed with a metopic synostosis at Great Ormond Street Hospital earlier in the year. Louis’s skull has fused together too early and he is scheduled to have an operation early in January 2010.
The donation will cover accommodation costs for Louis and his parents during the operation and during his initial recovery period, as he will be unable to travel back home to Guernsey for at least a week. Scalextic have also donated a fabulous racing kit for Louis (and his dad Jay) to play with.

Charity bolstered by Mini Olympics
The Guernsey Mini Olympics 2009 raised £5,500 for the Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation and saw 250 'athletes' take part in what turned out to be a crazy, fun filled event.
A group of sporting individuals called the Club House Casuals organised the event which was sponsored by The Heritage Group, an international provider of specialist insurance and financial services.
Jo and Andy are extremely grateful for this substantial donation which has paid for a new portable jaundice meter for the SCBU in Guernsey.

Foundation aids health visitors
The Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation helped pay for an assessor to come to the island of Guernsey to help train five local health visitors who have now all completed the Neonatal Behavioural Assessment Scale Programme. The scheme is appropriate for infants up to two months of age and is the most comprehensive examination of newborn behaviour available.
The team expands
Andy, Jo and the team would like to welcome Ali Lihou to the Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation. Born and educated in Guernsey, Ali spent her previous years working in the finance sector and local property market. She enjoys active, adventure holidays with her husband, yoga, cooking and taking care of her high maintenance cat, Lily.
Ali also volunteers for Headway Guernsey, a charitable organisation which provides support and services to adults and their families who are living with the long-term effects of a brain injury.
