guernsey stamps 2006
In a huge honour, Guernsey Post from Andy's home in the Channel Islands has issued a set of 6 stamps entitled 'Fast Track to a World Champion' which depict his career and commemorate his 2005 WTCC win.
Guernsey Post says, "As a Channel Island with a proud history, the Bailiwick of Guernsey doesn’t choose its heroes lightly. But in November 2005, when Andy Priaulx was crowned World Champion in the World Touring Car Championship, another hero was added to its illustrious list ... And he is the only person to have been awarded 'Guernsey Ambassador of the Year' on two occasions - in 1999 and again in 2005 – in recognition for representing his island home on the world stage."
Probably a first for a touring car driver, with only a few champions such as Nigel Mansell (Isle of Man) and Gilles Villeneuve (Canada) having enjoyed such an honour, Andy has been very humbled to have been chosen.
