BMW 320si

320si launch

Following Andy and BMW Team UK's 2004 European and 2005 World Championship title wins in the 320i, a completely new car was launched for the 2006 season: the BMW 320si E90. In 2007 it is again the machine to beat.

The 275 bhp racing car was developed by BMW Motorsport. It is the racing version of the limited edition BMW 320si which you can buy from your local BMW dealer.

At the same time, it shares the heritage and cutting edge of BMW's philosophy and commitment to motorsport that spans over 50 years of success.

The new racecar is badged '320si' from the marketing name for the road-going model 2.0 litre Sport version of the BMW 3 series range on which it is based. The label E90 used by BMW cognoscenti refers to the internal BMW project name for the new 3-series sedan.

The previous racecar Andy campaigned from 2003-2005 was the '320i E46'. The main differences between the E46 and E90 are the replacement of the old 6 cylinder power plant by new 4 cylinder inline engine, and the car being 45mm longer and 36mm wider than its predecessor

All WTCC cars must comply with car specification details known as 'Super 2000' because of the year they were first applied in the old ETCC.

See the car spotting section for details on the different colours each BMW national team and driver uses on their 320si.
