The team running Andy's BMW Team UK car was founded in 1974 by Bart's father Julien. Intially as Juma Racing and subsequently as RBM (Racing Bart Mampaey), the team have a long history of success, especially in partnership with BMW.
Bart Mampaey holds a doctorate in engineering so it is unsurprising that RBM are respected in the motorsport world for precise engineering. When 2 turns of a nut can ruin a car's setup, this attention to detail is what defines a winning team.
The other factor in the extraordinary success of RBM is that the operation consists of Bart and a tight group of only 8 race engineers. This has bred a motivated and efficient operation where every man knows his special role in the equation.
