Andys 2010 Programme Announced
Andy Priaulx has an exciting 2010 racing season ahead of him competing in both the FIA World Touring Car Championship and also selected endurance sports car races for BMW. This programme for him was announced in Munich on Saturday night by BMW Motorsport Director, Mario Theissen.
The triple world champion will again be driving a BMW 320si WTCC, but for the first time in this series he will have a team-mate. Priaulx’s regular team, Belgium based team RBM, run by Bart Mampaey, will be in charge of the two car operation for the Guernsey driver and Brazil’s Augusto Farfus.
“This will be another busy year for me but to do both touring cars and sports cars for BMW is a great prospect. You need very different skills, and I shall relish the challenges. In my opinion the WTCC is the ultimate competition. I think this is one of the hardest championships in the world, but I have always enjoyed competing in endurance races,” Priaulx said.
Recently Alex Zanardi announced he would not be competing in the 2010 WTCC and Priaulx’s comment on this was: “Our sport will be the poorer without him. I am very sad to think he will not be there racing alongside the rest of us. I suppose all good things have to come to an end, but this is truly the end of a magic era as Alex is a true legend.”
