Andy Races for Charity at Autosport International
Triple world champion Andy Priaulx is set to race for charity and meet his loyal fans at Autosport International in Birmingham this week.
Priaulx jumped at the opportunity to get behind the wheel of a kart in the Live Action Arena when asked by his friend and fellow racing driver, David Brabham, to be part of his Celebrity Karting Challenge. The event on Friday (15 January) which will involve over 20 teams taking part in a 90 minute endurance race is in aid of Malaria No More UK.
The show, which is the largest motorsport one in Europe, is held at the NEC and will give the Guernsey driver the chance to see the thousands of fans that flock there. “I always try to get to Birmingham in January as there are always a lot of fans who I only get to see once a year due to my hectic racing schedule. Add to this the chance to help raise money and awareness about a life saving charity and this was a must for me,” he said.
Priaulx will also be a guest on the Autosport Stage on Saturday where he will discuss his past seasons as well as looking forward to 2010. In the very near future he will start testing again with his BMW 320si WTCC in readiness for the FIA World Touring Car Championship. He will also be taking part in endurance events for BMW who plan to enter the iconic 24 hour races at Le Mans, the Nürburgring and Spa-Franchorchamps. “It is certainly going to be a busy and exciting year. I have many new challenges ahead of me and I just can’t wait to get back on track for our first race in Brazil in March,” he added.
Malaria No More UK is committed to ending suffering and death caused by malaria, a preventable disease. The charity works with governments, corporations, celebrities and the public to raise mass awareness and funds to achieve UN goals.
