Andy Qualifies 6th for First WTCC Races of 2010
Andy Priaulx will start the first FIA World Touring Car Championship race of 2010 in Brazil from sixth on the grid, just in front of his BMW Team RBM team-mate, Augusto Farfus, after an incredibly tight qualifying session.. The triple world champion was disappointed with his grid position, but felt the team could improve on this in the races as he was only just over two tenths off pole.
“We worked hard on getting a good set up in the two practice sessions, but sadly at the end of qualifying Michel Michelisz in his SEAT went off just in front of a group of us and that was the end of that lap. Sixth and seventh for us was not what we were hoping for after some very promising results in free practice, but it is only the beginning of the season and I have confidence we can get back to the front,” said the Guernsey driver.
The first two races of the season are at the 3.695 kilometre Curitiba track in Brazil, which is 340 kilometres south west of Sao Paulo. Tomorrow morning the warm up is from 10.15 to 10.30 and the two 14 lap races start at 14.20 and 15.30. All these times are local and currently the UK is three hours behind Brazil.
