Round five of the FIA World Touring Car Cup is on Germany’s Nürburgring Nordschleife,a track that is one of the most challenging in motorsport and one that Andy Priaulx always enjoys racing on. “I am not sure what can get much better than racing on the Le Mans and Nürburgring Nordschleife circuits in the space of a week. I won the 24 hour race here in 2005 and so am excited to have my first race there in the WTCR, although it will be a much shorter one,” said Andy. It is a confident Andy who is looking forward to racing his number 111 Cyan Racing-prepared Lynk & Co 03 TCR there, as he explained: “This is an awesome circuit and I am hopeful our car can go well there. I know my team mates Yvan Muller and Thed Björk did well with a win each last year, so I hope I can do something similar this year. It is a track that tests man and machine. The lap has 64 corners and the weather in the Eifel Mountains can change in minutes. It is a track where you can have four seasons in one hour!” The 25.378 kilometre track is on the WTCR calendar for the second year, taking over from the FIA World Touring Car Championship that went there from 2015 to 2017. These races have all been on the support programme for the famous Nurburgring 24 Hour race, which this year will start at 15.30 on the Saturday. The timetable for the WTCR Race of Germany starts on Thursday (20thJune) with free practice 1 from 11.30 to 12.10, free practice 2 from 12.30 to 13.10, qualifying 1 from 15.30 to 16.10 and qualifying 2 from 19.30 to 20.10. On Friday the first three-lap race starts at 17.30, and on Saturday there are two further three-lap races starting at 11.00 and 12.20. All these times are local and an hour ahead of BST.
